Spiders

My 9 year old loves to do crafts.  He is very creative and has a lot of great ideas.  This one can about when I was making the piggies for Angry birds.  He picked one up and asked if he could have one.  After asking him why he proceeded to explain what he wanted to do with it, Spiders!!!  I have to give it to him.  He's pretty clever.  He did this one all himself.
Here is what you need:
black paint
Paint brush
4 pipe cleaners
wooden dowel knobs
Googly eyes

Paint your knobs and let dry

Fold all 4 pipe cleaners in half and stick the folded end into the hole on the knob.
I had to drill the hole slightly larger so my son could get all 4 of the pipe cleaners in.
After making sure the pipe cleaners will fit put a little glue in the hole, then add the pipe cleaners.

Glue on your Googly eyes.

Pull legs out. Lay pipe cleaners out straight with 4 on each side.

About half way down the legs bend them down. Then 1 inch or so from the bottom bend out.  To give him feet.
All finished

This is a really simple craft your kids will love.  And they area super cute for decorating your porch or mantel.

Happy Creating!!

You've Been Punk'd! Halloween neighbor treat

I love when neighborhoods are friendly and festive and take care of one another.  I live in one of those neighborhoods.  I especially love living in a great neighborhood around the holidays.  This is one of my favorite things to do.

When I was a kid it was always the Ghost that floated around the neighborhood to say Boo.
This year I wanted to start something with the same concept with a little twist.

You've Been Punk'd.

I got one of the $1 pumpkins from my local store and filled it with treats and a few tricks.
Printed my tags and attached to the pumpkin.
I glued the pumpkin and the poem on a piece of card stock. Oneon each side.  I think I may laminate it for durabilty.
The tags shown here are 4x6. If you would like to use them right click on the image and save to your computer.

Print the We've been Punk'd onto 8.5 x 11 photocopies. I did mine double sided to save paper. I am going to print 10 or so of these and include them in the pumpkin.

You are ready to knock and run.  Play a nice trick or two and have fun!

Here are a few more fun pass around to start the BOO in your neighborhood.

Angry Birds Update

Angry Birds Update
I have been working with my little birds and decided I wasn't happy with the piggies.  I decided they were more work than they were worth.  Then I had an idea.
They don' have to be fabric.
I did a little looking at my local craft store and found small wooden knobs.  Like the ones you put on Dowel rods or use for doll heads.
I found some beautiful green paint for 99 cents and I am off and running again.

My boys were fighting over who got to paint them and my little miss lets just say she wanted in on the action too.

I free handed the faces and Voila! Little Green piggies for the Angry birds to catch.

My kiddos arew very happy wiht the result and so am I.  They have been playing Angry Bird a few hours everyday since I made them.  Its great.  They have turned it into a competition. He who leaves a piggie standing has to build the blocks.  Its actually quite entertaining.
Here are a few pictures of my Birdies close up.

I used ribbon for the cream bird and the black bird as feathers and a fuse.  Make sure you burn the ends of the ribbon so it doesn't unravel.

I hope you are all enjoying your Angry Birds.  My kiddos area still in love!

Raspberry Yumminess!

I love Fruit! To bad I am allergic to most.  Darn enzymes.   There are a few I can eat one of those is Raspberries.  I love them.  Fresh or Bottled (YES, I bottle raspberries They are so good in the cold winter. They remind me of a warm summer day)
This little dish is wonderful for a party, Sunday dinner or just plain great as a fruit dip.
I served this at a family dinner and It was devoured with in minutes.  I even doubled the recipe.
My little Miss calls this her Raspeberrry Yumminess.  I think she ate half of this bowl.

Here is what you need:
1 large pkg vanilla pudding
1 8z. Cool Whip
16 oz. vanilla yogurt
16 oz. plain yogurt
16 oz. Raspberries

Pull frozen raspberries and let thaw while you mix other ingredients.
Whip together yogurt and pudding until pudding is mixed.
Add Cool Whip and mix well.
Take a few whole berries out of the package and save for later. Fold in raspberries. Place your extra raspberries on top for a pretty finish.

If you have any left for a later date it may separate a little. Just whip it back up.
