Fitness Ridge Resort Review

A few weeks ago I had an amazing opportunity to go to Fitness Ridge Ranch! Have you seen this place??  It is amazing.  At first I was hesitant to go.  I workout and I try to eat well but I really don't have my whole heart in it.  So when the opportunity came I took and decided I wanted to make a change in my life!  Here is a little bit about Fitness Ridge!

Doesn't it look amazing? I can tell you the pictures just don't do it justice.

So today I am going to share my experience at the Resort and why I would do it again!!

Upon arriving at the Resort you are greeted by a few amazing people.  The facility is beautiful and comfortable!  You are given your binder, room key, name tag  and schedule for the week. Because you check in on a Sunday you can just take you time and get to know the people and facility.  Find your room and settle in.  Men and women who were staying multiple weeks were visiting around the pool, hot tub and workout rooms.  The gym and pool are open 24 hours so you can get your
 workout on whenever you want!

Love Me Pretty {Creativity}

A few weeks ago I shared this post over at Flats to Flip Flops.  The theme for the month was "Pretty me". basically different bloggers shared what made them feel pretty.  Here the post I shared.  For more on Ashley's Pretty Me Series check out her blog.
When most people think of  "pretty me" they probably think of fashion or self image. Over the course of the month you have read  about women who are promoting positive self image, taking care of your body, positive affirmations, motherhood and more to feel pretty. For me, some of that is true. But even more for me is the the feeling I get from Creating.  It gives me a sense of self worth and a feeling of accomplishment.

As someone who creates I don't hold myself to just one medium.  I love creating on my computer, in the kitchen and my sewing machine. I create for the joy of creating and the solace of my thoughts when I create. When I create I feel my heart and my soul come together to make something beautiful! A calmness comes over me and I feel amazing!
A few of my creations!
Even as a child I would sit up to my moms sewing machine and make doll clothes, pillowcases, and drawstring bags for fun. For extra income my mother would make porcelain dolls.  She did everything, sewing bodies and dresses, pouring the molds and painting the faces.  You could usually find me stuffing bodies and wiring arms and legs to the bodies.
As time has gone by I have have jumped from one thing to another. But always felt that need to create.
"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the Human soul." D. Uchtdorf

Do you feel it to?  Your need to create may not be the same as mine but the need is there.  Watch the video below.  I don't think anyone could put my feelings to words better.

Welcome Ashley from Flats to Flip Flops {Maternity Fashion}

Hi everyone!  My name is Ashley and flats to flip flops is my little corner of the blog world!

I am a self prescribed diet coke and chocolate addict, wife, and momma to 2!  I blog about fashion, faith and philanthropy!  Modest fashion for the everyday woman and sharing my mommy moments is something I am passionate about!  I would love for you to stop by and see me some time!

I am so excited to be here at my girl Adrienne's today!  I am so lucky to not only have her as a bloggy friend, but as my real life friend as well!  She totally rocks(and sews/crafts all my stuff for me..cuz I am not skilled like that)!

I don't know about you, but the maternity fashion scene has changed a ton since I had my first baby!  It is so much more trendy and not so depressing and I love it!  So today I am going to talk about my top 5 maternity musts!

Maternity Musts

1.  Oversized Sweaters & T-Shirts(Plum top-topshop.com, Gray Tee-aritzia.com):  The best thing about purchasing maternity clothes these days is that you don't necessarily have to shop at a maternity store.  Oversized shirts are everywhere this season and they are not only great for a growing belly, but a great transition piece after your bundle of joy has arrived!

2.  Leggings(houseoffraser.co.uk):  These are a pregnant women's dream!  Comfy and cozy are definitely two words you want to be when you're pregnant and leggings do just the trick.  Worn with boots or with flats, leggings are great for any season.  A side note:  Leggings can go wrong real fast!  I like to make sure that whatever top I wear with my leggings is long enough that I feel comfortable and more importantly covers my backside!  Keep it classy!

3.   Maternity Jeans/Pants(oldnavy.gap.com):  It's always a good idea to have a good pair of maternity jeans in your closet.  Personally I love the over the belly style, it doesn't seem to slip, slide, and bend like the under the belly style does.

4.  Comfortable Shoes(toms.com):  If your like me when preggo, your feet get a lot of the wear and tear.  A good pair of shoes is a must!  I love TOMS because they are not only comfy, but super cute too!

5. Accessories(doulashop.com): Don't be afraid to make a statement with your accessories!  I LOVE this piece of jewelry because it is made specifically for pregnant women.  You probably have noticed, but it is in the shape of a pregnant women's body.  There are lots of similar pieces out there, and what a special way to remember those 9 months!

A big thank you to Adrienne for letting me invade her space today!

If you want to connect with me you can also find me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram: @ashflipflops!

Happy Maternity shopping!

If she doesn't live near you you can check out her blog and buy her new e-book, Discovering your Style in 7 days or less!!  I am so glad I did.  It changed the way I shopped for myself and I got rid of all the excess I didn't love or need. Head over to Flats to Flip Flops and show her some love.

8 Maids of Milking

Thanks Holly and Nat for inviting me! I love this song!  I think this is one of the first songs I fell in love with as a kid at Christmas time. This was a bit of a challenge but here is what I came up with.

12 Days of Christmas_300

I thought it would be fun to have a quick and easy to go treat for Santa.  You know to go with his milk!

Here is what I did!!

Supplies:
Pringles can
card stock: Red & White
Gold and white glitter
Cookies or Cookie dough
Jug of Milk

Cover your Pringles can in red paper and tape or glue ends.

I printed mine off on my printer.  After cutting your buckle and mustache, turn over to the white side of the paper, put a small amount of modge podge on both of them and sprinkle they with glitter.   Let it dry.

When dry use glue dots or glue to secure your belt, buckle and Mustache into place.

Add your tag and your all done!

Add a jug of milk and some cookies and you are ready to go. Santa will a have a little snack on the go!!

Want to make it a neighbor gift???  Instead of cookies, fill the the container with cookie dough and print off the poem.

Please Welcome {Grits & Giggles}

I'm Jenilyn, author of Grits & Giggles. I love to share my adventures in sewing, crafting, and being a mommy! I'm so excited to be at FreeTime Frolics today to share with you how to put together a TuTu Dress fit for a princess!

My daughter's favorite song is "You Are My Sunshine". She sings it all day and it never gets old to hear! She loves to dress up and twirl, so I knew for Halloween she needed a sparkly tulle dress. I wanted it to be golden and beautiful, just like the sunshine in her favorite song.

Let's get started!

Materials:
1" Elastic
Tulle- 100 yards for a 2T size
Flower Clip
Coordinating Ribbon

Measure around your little girl's chest. This is your elastic length. Overlap by 1" and sew the ends together. You want it fitted, but not too tight.

Measure her height from her chest to where you want the tutu to fall. Multiply this by 2 and add 3". This will be your tulle length.
ex: my measurement was 20"....so my tulle length was 20x2+3= 43"

Cut strips of tulle this length and the width of your spool. You will need a LOT, especially if you use a light color.

I place the elastic band around my leg for support. Place 2-3 strips of your tulle, in different colors, together and fold in the middle. Slip this under your elastic band.

Then pull the ends of the tulle through, creating a knot. Don't pull it too tight yet, as the elastic will stretch when you do. Wait until you're finished to tighten.

Continue tying these knots all the way around the elastic, alternating colors and combinations. Gently tighten your knots when you're done.

To add a halter strap, cut a long length of your ribbon, and tie a similar knot, between two knots of tulle.

Clip on your flower clip and you're done! Your tutu dress is ready to be worn and twirled in!

It flows beautifully, and sparkles in the October sun.

Thanks again for having me from Grits & Giggles!
