My Favorite Canning Recipes and a Giveaway!

Are you a Prepper?  I totally am.  I love all things Preparedness! But let me make it clear, I am not a Zombie Apocalypse  Prepper.  The Zombies can take me of they want... I am the kind of prepper who   loves seeing my 72 Hour kits packed and ready,  My food shelves stocked with food, and learning new ways to use my shelf stable food or making my own shelf stable food. I'm Nerdy like that.

With canning season upon us I though it would be a great idea to share with you a round up of my favorite canning recipes. You can also check out my Pinterest boards for more links to canning, food storage and all things preparedness! Follow me if you would like and learn more about being prepared!

Easy Sew Easter Tote DIY

This year for Easter I thought it would be fun to make the kids an Easter Tote.  Its big enough for Easter Egg hunts, a fun toy or outfit and nothing falls out.  Then I found these adorable grocery bag fabrics at Joann's. The fabric was so cheap only $2.99 a yard. Adorable colors perfect for Easter.  I decided I would personalize each of them with a cute image.  I love how these Easter totes turned out.  My kids love them!

The 4th of July is one of those holiday I just love dressing up for.  I realize that it is only 1 day, but I grew up being taught that it is important to celebrate our freedoms.  I have heard stories about family members who have fought in past wars.  Hearing there stories reminds me that freedom is not free.  It is earned and should be appreciated. So every year I rack my brain to find something unique to dress my kids in. So this year I made a round up of projects that I love. 5 week meal rotation calendar

Ever ask yourself what should I make for dinner??? I do, and it galls me. To understand my frustration let me start by admitting I am not a Type A personality. My craft room has half-finished projects scattered all over it, my house is not spotless or ordered, my children don’t do their chores or homework without constant prodding, and my husband sometimes comes home to a pile of unfolded laundry on the bed and front room full of toys.

I am, paradoxically, a prepper. Emergency preparedness and food storage are right in my wheel house. I get a great deal of satisfaction in seeing my storage shelves fill with food and having enough water to fill a small pool should the need arise.

Because of my love of preparedness and my complete disdain for coming up with a daily menu, I developed what I have named my 5 Week Meal Rotation and made it part of my Command Center {here}.
