Sometimes I just need a reminder... Keep Calm and Enjoy the Journey!

I have been a little MIA on the blog lately.  With summer coming to an end I have been feverishly running around, spending time with my kiddos and getting ready for school. I also was just called to be the Young Women's President in my ward.  (Exciting and time consuming!) I feel like my life is out of control. As I try to piece my busy life back together and get back into a daily routine I remembered a talk given by LDS church President Thomas S. Monson his talk was entitled Finding Joy in the Journey.
President Monson states
 "Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with friends and family
I loved reading these words.  They are a great reminder to what is really important. Someone once stated that we only have 18 summers with our children.  We should make the most of it! I decided to make this fun printable to remind me to take life one day at a time and enjoy the journey. Whether you are a busy mom like me, a college student, an empty nester or just plain old busy you can enjoy this fun printable.
I made 2 printable's one with a mother and child silhouette and one with a bicycle.

Soft Ginger Molasses Cookies {Recipe}

One of my favorite cookies were the soft molasses cookies they use to sell in the bag with the white icing on top.  As a kid we didn't get them very often, but I loved it when we did.  Over the years they were harder to find.  So when I was visiting Pennsylvania several years ago I visited an Amish Bakery.  They had the most amazing baked goods! I was so excited when I found the Molasses cookies!  I savored each bite!  When I got home I searched for a recipe that would be similar to that amazing flavor I loved. I finally found one.  This recipe makes the most amazing soft ginger molasses cookies.  They come out of the oven crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.  I dare say they are even better the next day!

Super Hero Cape {Riley Blake Designs}

A few months ago I received the new Riley Blake Designs Catalog.  I saw these capes and knew I needed one for my little guy.  I was so excited when RBD told me they would send me out a few to try and share with you.
RBD will be releasing these beautiful panels later this month. They come in 3 colors. See them below.{even the girls can play along}
This is one of the coordinating fabrics. I think I need a project just for this fabric. Maybe a cute Neck Tie??? I love it!
Each panel comes with written instructions, a cape (one side), wristbands, waistband and mask. To complete the project you will need 3/4 yard coordinating fabric for back of cape, hook and loop tape, elastic (for mask) and a small amount of felt or batting for the accessories.
If your are new to sewing or want to start this is the perfect project to get started with! Just a few straight lines and a little zig zag stitching!

RBD will also be releasing Princess capes.  Perfect for your pretty princess.
Be sure to get these before they are all gone. They will make perfect gifts for Birthday's or Christmas. Check out the Ribbon Retreat online to purchase these adorable capes or anywhere Riley Blake is sold!

Painted Pull Back Cars {Kid Craft}

With summer in full swing I often find my kids bored to tears with nothing to do except watch T.V. and play video games.    So I love to find a fun craft for them that fits all ages.  So today I am sharing my painted pull back cars. We made these a while ago and my kids loved it.  They painted for an hour or so then spend the afternoon racing there cars.  A perfect activity when you are trying to beat the heat or stuck inside.
